The button in the chrome strip shows your account name once you are signed in. It used to invite a signed-in visitor to sign in, forever.

Signing in no longer takes you out of the product. The provider opens in a sized popup with the terminal still on screen behind it, and the modal flips to signed-in by itself when you are done — no tab to find and close.

The account view states your plan: Free, or Paid until a date. It reads the server's answer directly rather than inferring it from which features happen to be unlocked.
