A message someone sends you now appears in your conversation list by itself, and the envelope in the toolbar gets its dot, whether the Messages window is open or not. The list refreshes in the background every half minute while you are signed in with a paid account, and right after you send something.
With your vault still locked, conversations and messages are visible as they are stored: the encrypted text, monospaced and dimmed, with a lock and an Unlock your vault button. Open the vault and the same messages turn into words in place. That is the end-to-end encryption doing exactly what it says.
The chat pane now looks like a messenger: bubbles, the other side on the left with an avatar, yours on the right, the sender's nick above the text and the time in the corner, with day separators between days. Text inside a bubble can be selected by dragging and copied.
The header button for your account is only as wide as your avatar and nick, up to a limit, with no arrow. In Settings, on the Account tab, you can choose whether it shows the avatar, the nick or both. The magic hat on the toolbar now faces the other way and tips when you open its sidebar and squashes when you close it.
